Sean Combs will make Howard University's commencement speech

Sean Combs is scheduled to make a commencement speech this year at Howard University.

At the ceremony this year, he will be receiving an honorary doctorate in the humanities, according to the Associated Press. University President Wayne Frederick said that Combs has an entrepreneurial spirit that was sparked at Howard.

Howard attended Howard University in 1989, but then dropped out, according to Hip Hollywood.

Later Combs became a music mogul. He recorded and produced his own music and build his own brand. Last year, he launched Revolt, an all-music TV channel. His albums include Forever, We Invented the Remix, Last Train to Paris, and MMM. He received an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor for A Raisin in the Sun. He also won a BET Award in 2007 for Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

Howard University’s 146th Commencement ceremony will take place on May 10. The school announced on Tuesday that Combs will be one of the five people who will be recognized as trailblazers. Honorary degrees will also be offered to Benny Golson (Jazz Composer) and Wolf Blitzer (CNN Anchor), among others.
