Savage Steve Holland gets back to his roots with ‘Multiplexing’

Getting back to his 1980’s roots, having written and directed classics Better Off Dead… and One Crazy Summer, Savage Steve Holland was brought on board to direct new comedy Mulitplexing.

Variety reported Multiplexing follows a group of small town teens who get the surprise of a lifetime when the studio behind an upcoming summer blockbuster decides to premiere its film at their hometown multiplex. Wayne 6 Entertainment’s Mark Heidelberger, Mike Massotto and David Crump with Richard Salvatore and David E Ornston are producers. David Crump penned the script.

While Holland had success with the John Cusack classics, he has since taken his creative genius to Nickelodeon with great success, writing and directing The New Adventures of Bean Baxter, Keenan & Kel, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and Big Time Rush to name a few.

A.V. Club noted a possible Cusack cameo is doubtful given the star and director’s rocky relationship, one can always hope considering Cusack gave reference to Better Off Dead… in the 2010 hit Hot Tub Time Machine with the psychotic paper boy who chased after him demanding payment of $2.

Mulitplexing is due to start filming this summer.
