Lana Del Rey releases new single 'West Coast' at Coachella festival

Del Rey played the new single, “West Coast,” on the 2014 Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival on Sunday night.

"I can't tell you how right it feels to be here right now," Del Rey, 27, said at The Coachella Festival, according to Billboard. She then performed “Cola,” “Body Electric,” “Born to Die,” and “Summertime Sadness.” Del Rey's sang with a cello on the song, "Video Games," which was her debut single.

Del Rey, who changed her name from Lizzy Grant, announced her new album title, Ultraviolence. According to The Guardian, the word "ultra-violence" was used in Anthony Burgess's 1962 novel, A Clockwork Orange. It has to do with a pastime that includes a spree of brutality and mayhem.

Del Rey’s previous albums include Lana Del Ray and 2012’s Born to Die. Del Rey won International Female Solo Artist at the 2013 BRIT Awards. Her single, “Dark Paradise,” was a single in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. She also took the ECHO award for Best International Newcomer and Best Pop/ Rock Artist in 2013.
