Kent State University was on lockdown after student shot himself in hand

Quavaugntay Tyler, a 24 year old Kent State University student, shot himself in the hand after he got into an altercation with two female students on Wednesday.

After Tyler injured himself, he fled from the scene into a resident hall to ask his friend to help him get rid of the weapon.

According to the Chronicle, Police Chief John Peach said that Tyler told authorities that he had the gun in his possession because he was once an armed robbery victim.

It remains unclear why the 24 year old fired the weapon; however he is on probation for another case.

Kent was put on lockdown by authorities until they found Tyler. Students were told to stay put while police searched the area, according to AM New York.

Tyler is a criminology student at Kent State University. The school can also put Tyler under investigation under the student’s code of conduct rules and regulations, which is not part of the authorities’ case.
