Jack White managed to complete his goal of recording the world’s fastest record ahead of scheduled time. The group of 7”s recorded for Record Store Day release were put together and ready for purchase—it took three hours, 55 minutes and 21 seconds, according to Billboard.
White told the world of his record-breaking plan, attempting to make “Lazaretto” the fastest released record in the world—which it was. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, White approached the stage in the Blue Room at Third Man Records along with Fats Kaplin and Daru Jones. They recorded two tracks, one being “Lazaretto” with an accompanied B-side of “Power of My Love,” Elvis Presley’s 1969 hit, reports Rolling Stone.
As long as fans line up to buy the record, United Record Pressing will continue to press and deliver as many records as possible.
"Originally, we were just gonna do this record and go back to sleep," White told the crowd. They ended up playing for an entire hour fully equipped with new songs as well as White Stripes classics and crowd favorites.
Vollgas Kompanie, Swiss polka trio, set the original Guinness World Record when they released their album the day after they recorded it on August 16th, 2008. Jack White broke the record by releasing his record in less than four hours.
