Former San Diego mayor ends home confinement sentence

Former San Diego mayor Bob Filner was sentenced to house arrest for three months after resigning from office in a term that lasted less than nine months.

According to SF Gate, Filner resigned amid sexual misconduct allegations that involved him and numerous women.

He was San Diego's first Democratic leader in 20 years, and he had finished a sentence for felony false imprisonment and misdemeanor battery charges on account of alleged sexual harassment victims. The reported number of women is about 20.

These battery charges include kissing a woman on the lips without her consent and grabbing another woman's buttocks after being asked by her to take a picture.

Filner ended his confinement sentence on Sunday. This required him to stay home and go through GPS monitoring at all times.

Although his home confinement term is over, Filner will remain on probation for another three years, according to CBS8.

He will be eligible to have his probation reduced to informal probation 18 months after his sentencing. He will also be able to reduce his felony to a misdemeanor.
