Emily Blunt talks about the joys of motherhood for the first time

During Emily Blunt’s pregnancy, the star kept mum about it to the press, even as she finished Into the Woods as she waited with her husband John Krasinski for her child to be born.

On February 16 of this year, the couple welcomed their daughter Hazel and has since kept out of the public eye.

However, Blunt is featured in Vogue’s April issue in which she has opened up about how she’s received motherhood, in which she describes it as “the coolest thing” she’s experienced.

“I feel good,” Blunt told Vogue. “Although, I do wake up feeling like my grandmother. I sleep with a fortress of pillows around me. I’ve got one of those huge C-shaped ones.”

She even revealed that Krasinski has dubbed the pillow “Gary.”

According to E! News that the actress’s baby bump was barely visible when she was starring alongside Johnny Depp, Chris Pine and Meryl Streep in Into the Woods.

“I’m playing a baker’s wife, so I figured she must eat a lot of buns,” Blunt said. “By the end I was doing a lot of creeping behind trees and hiding behind other characters.”

While pregnant, that wasn’t the only craving that Blunt was having. According to E! News, the actress revealed that she limited herself to “one coffee a day” and snacked on gluten-free cookies.

“I know everyone rolls their eyes, but I met a hippie doctor who suggested it, and it’s really helped me in the pregnancy,” she shared.

Blunt explained that during her pregnancy she tried to take the “non-fuss, non-intense” approach where she didn’t try to stress it too much. She revealed that a majority of people advise pregnant women not to do too much researching with both pregnancy books and online searches.

As she geared up to participate in the film Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise, Blunt shared that she took Krav Maga martial-arts and gymnastics classes as she would be sporting a 85 pound costume of weapons. By the end of her training she described herself as “almost unattractive” that she was so fit. However, she appreciated what the training did.

“I understand what it takes to get in that kind of shape,” she said to Vogue. “And when I got pregnant, not long after I finished the movie, it helped me to keep active.”
