Chelsea Clinton announced that she is pregnant at an event in New York City on Thursday. This will be the former First Daughter’s first child with husband, Marc Mezvinsky.
The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton confirmed the news at the Lower Eastside Girls Club, where she was speaking for the “No Ceilings Conversation” series, reports The Huffington Post. Her mother also attended the event.
“Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year and I certainly feel all the better, whether it's a girl or a boy, that she or he will grow up in a world full of so many strong female leaders,” Clinton, 34, said during her speech, reports USA Today.
Clinton is an only child, so this will be the first grandchild for Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Mezvinsky and Clinton married in July 2010, with only a few celebrities in attendance. Still, there were reportedly 400 guests there. She recently joked in a interview that 2014 would be her “year of the baby.”
