Joss Stone, who rose to fame as a teenager, is celebrating her 27th birthday today. Her debut album, The Soul Sessions, went multi-platinum after being released in 2003. This album consists of covers of soul songs from the '60s and '70s.
Her second album, Mind Body & Soul, achieved similar success by going multi-platinum. This album also topped the UK Albums Chart for a week and had a top-ten single in "You Had Me."
Her success has continued in recent years with her two latest albums, Colour Me Free! and LP1. They have each peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 charts.
Mark Teixeira, who plays first base for the New York Yankees, celebrates his 34th birthday today. He began his career with the Texas Rangers in 2003.
He made an immediate impact in their lineup with his power hitting. He hit 26 home runs as a rookie and followed up his rookie campaign with 38 home runs and 112 runs batted in 2004.
He earned his first All Star Game trip in 2005 and finished with 43 home runs and 144 runs batted in while batting .301.
He was eventually traded to the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim before signing an eight-year deal with the Yankees.
Teixeira has also been well-known for his defense at first base, winning five Gold Glove awards.
