The Other Woman star and author of The Body Book, Cameron Diaz, doesn’t believe in antiperspirant. In fact, the 41-year-old actress, author and former model hasn’t used it in 20 years.
"I don't believe in antiperspirant. It's really bad for you. I haven't used it for almost 20 years. You're stinky, because you use antiperspirant. It keeps all the stink in,” Diaz told E! News.
Women aren't the only one’s who can get away with joining Diaz’s ban on deodorant. “Let it go and just trim your armpit hair so it doesn't hold onto the scent," she said in her interview with E!.
It turns out the actress, set to play Miss Hannigan in upcoming film Annie, isn't far off from the truth that antiperspirant can be harmful to the body.
According to The Washington Post, antiperspirants often contain aluminum which has had a longstanding and controversial link to Alzheimer’s disease.
Similarly, scientists have proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirant or deodorant may be related to breast cancer because of how often they are applied to the area next to the breast. However, the National Cancer Institute stated that their researchers are not aware of any conclusive evidence proving subsequent development breast cancer due to antiperspirant or deodorant application.
However, Diaz’s body thoughts don't stop there. In her first writing endeavor, she speaks about her beliefs on women’s pubic hair in a section titled “Praise of Pubes.”
“I hear that there's a big fad these days of young women undergoing laser hair removal on all of their lady bits," Diaz wrote.
To her the idea of laser hair removal is an extreme measure because once it’s done it last forever. She compared it to fashion trends: "I know you may think you'll be wearing the same style of shoes forever and the same style of jeans forever, but you won't.”
Diaz told E!, "The idea that vaginas are preferable in a hairless state is a pretty recent phenomenon, and all fads change, people."
However, Diaz later stated during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, “I would like to clear up what I said. I don't care what women do with it, but we should be informed about how their bodies work,” according to E! News. She was implying that pubic hair is there for a reason so women should think twice before shaving it off for good.
