Alternative Press Magazine announce inaugural AP Music Awards

Alternative Press Magazine announced their own music awards, the AP Music Awards, acknowledging and celebrating artists from the underground music scene.

According to Billboard Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus will host the event set to take place on July 21 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum. There will be 15 awards handed out including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Most Dedicated Fans. Joan Jett, who is set to perform with The Blackhearts, will receive the AP Icon Award and Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman Billy Corgan will receive the AP Vanguard Award.

Alternative Press also announced musical acts to perform will include The Misfits, A Day To Remember, Twenty One Pilots, and Fall Out Boy. The announcement also hinted at other surprise guests, along with possible collaborations between artists as well.

The full list of nominees include the best and brightest in the genre including All Time Low, Paramore, Black Veil Brides, Panic! At The Disco, and Asking Alexandria to name a few. Fans can vote on the magazine’s website.

The Alternative Press Music Awards will be televised live on AXS TV on July 21.
