Wu-Tang to release secretly recorded LP 'Once Upon a Time in Shaolin'

There’s been great news for Wu-Tang fans—their new album A Better Tomorrow will be released in July but that’s not all. In more recent news, Wu-Tang Clan will release a surprise LP titled Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.

There is a catch, though—only one copy of the secretly recorded double album LP will be sold.

RZA told Forbes "We're about to sell an album like nobody else sold it before."

“We're about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of [modern] music. We're making a single-sale collector's item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king," said RZA, also known as Robert Diggs.

Wu-Tang Clan plans for the Holy Grail LP to tour museums, galleries and festivals around the world, wearing headphones of course to prevent stealing music, before it is sold to one lucky rap fanatic. It will be given away in a hand-carved box deigned by Yahya, a British Moroccan artist, as reported by Rolling Stone.

Tour dates for the surprise album haven’t been released yet, but the rap group shares some details on their album website. It took six years for the album to be co-produced by RZA and Cilvaringz and it will feature appearances by Redman and FC Barcelona soccer players.

"The album encapsulates the Clan’s legendary dark funk and avant garde sound and is produced in the original Wu Tang style of the 90s," the group continued. "This is the first high-profile album never to be commercially released to the public and the first of its kind in the history of music."
