Twitter has decided to remove its #Music app from its App Store. The application was an attempt to keep people talking about music and recording artists.
The application was pulled from the App Store on Friday. It will cease to work for existing users on April 18th, according to The Verge. The application worked with Spotify and Rdio and recommended new tracks of music to consumers.
Twitter’s head of music revealed that music comprises a great portion of conversation on the service, and executives at the company will look for other options of bringing music to Twitter. The team who created #Music made a splash in 2012 with We are Hunted.
There is no word exactly what programs might be created to take the place of the #Music, but new ways to bring music are important to both company executives and consumers. According to T3, the company hopes to “continue to experiment with new ways to bring you great content based on the music activity we see every day on Twitter.”
