Top 10 fashion trends at the 2014 Oscars

6. Neutral/monotone

This year there wasn’t too many crazy patterns or colors that appeared on the red carpet. Everyone opted for a more classic and monotone look in that all of the gowns were one solid color. Another noticeable factor about the colors was that they were all pretty neutral. Most of the gowns seen were black, white, dark blues and nude. Amy Adams stunned in a navy blue gown that went gorgeously with her red hair. Pale pink was a popular color as demonstrated by Lady Gaga and Camila Alves. Of course classic black was popular, as both Charlize Theron and Olivia Wilde stunned in clean black dresses.

5. White tuxedos

Some people are so focused on what the ladies are wearing at award shows that many often overlook the stylish fashion of the men on the red carpet. Of course the classic black tuxedo and white dress shirt were everywhere but there were some men that opted for a white tux this year. Similarly to many women wearing white at the Oscars, the men followed their lead and wore white. Some of them included Best Actor winner Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Seacrest, who wore a similar tux with a black bowtie and Best Supporting Actor, Jared Leto, who wore white on white with his tuxedo and dress shirt.

4. High necklines

The women this year at the Oscars were surprisingly modest. Most of the dresses seen on the red carpet had noticeably medium to high necklines. In a society where it is the norm to see celebrity women bear it all when it comes to their chest, the ladies decided to tone it down this year. Angelina Joile wore an extremely modest dress with a high neckline and long sleeves. Emma Watson’s gown was sexy and sleek while still having a higher neckline, which created a very classy look. Olivia Wilde and Portia De Rossi both wore sexy dresses which still had a modest neckline as well.
