Stage collapsed at Servite High School, injuring 30 students

Students competing in a music challenge at Servite High School in Southern Calfifornia were injured as the stage collapsed amidst a performance on Saturday, March 8 around 10 p.m.

Anaheim police Lt. Tim Schmidt told LA Times that 250 girls from Rosary High School were on the stage performing when the stage collapsed due to weight, according to the LAist.

Injuries include minor scrape and broken bones. 30 students were taken to the hospital. Although the guess is that the stage gave out due to weight, authorities are still investigating. Fortunately, none of the injuries the student’s sustained were life threatening.

The students were performing “Red and Gold” in Rosary’s Annual Music Challenge, according to the Assocated Press. In the challenge, students prepare 6 weeks in advance to perform a choral, or dance, drama.

Servite and Rosary Highschool sent out a joint statement that said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the students and their families,” according to KTLA.
