Spike Lee to attend 'Do the Right Thing' screening at Eberfest

Spike Lee will appear at Eberfest, the film festival that named after legendary film critic, Roger Ebert.

According to the Associated Press, the filmmaker will be at the film festival to screen the 25th anniversary of Do the Right Thing. The festival announced that Lee will be attending the screening on April 25th during the 16th annual Eberfest, according to The News Gazette.

Lee’s 1989 film launched his career. Lee’s later work includes Crooklyn, Mo’ Better Blues, Summer of Sam, and documentaries like Kings of Comedy and A Huey P. Newton Story.

Eberfest is held from April 23-27. The complete list of films that are set to be screened at the festival has not yet been released, however, early reports says that the director Oliver Stone will attend the 25th anniversary screening of his film, Born on the Fourth of July.

Eberfest will be held at the Virginia Theatre in Champaign, Ill. Ebert graduated from the University of Illinois, based in Champaign and the neighboring Urbana. Ebert died last April. He was 70 years old.
