News Day reports that The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. announced on Monday March 24 that Rihanna will be receiving the CFDA Fashion Icon Award this year. She will be presented with the award on June 2 at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York City.
According to Elle CFDA CEO Steven Kolb announced, “We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory.”
This award is for those whose style has made a huge impact on pop culture all around the world. Other celebrities like Lady Gaga, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman have also received this same award.
Between her constant hairstyle changes, risk-taking style, and bold beauty, this pop singer, fashion designer and face of MAC’s Viva Glam collection is “one of the most predictably unpredictable fashion stars of late.”
