Patti Smith, Iggy Pop perform at 24th Annual Benefit Concert for Tibet House

The 24th Annual Benefit Concert for Tibet House took place at New York’s Carnegie Hall on Tuesday. The benefit was held in honor of the nonprofit organization charged with preserving Tibetan culture.

According to the Associated Press, Iggy Pop said from the 2,800 Stern Auditorium, "Good to see you! I needed this."

Iggy Pop, New Order, and Patti Smith were some of the musicians who had their say. Patti Smith closed the show with “People Have the Power.” Smith urged the audience to “use their voice.”

Smith performs each year at the benefit concert for Tibet. Iggy Pop also performs each year. Last year’s concert featured Tenzin Choegyal, Tune-Yards, Jim James, according to Rolling Stone. Other performers this year included Phillip Glass, Tim Fain, Matt Berninger, Aaron Dessner, and Bryce Dessner.

Tibet House was founded at the request of the Dalai Lama. Proceeds from the evening benefit Tibet House U.S. The cultural center, founded in 1987, includes a gallery and a library.
