NBA player Ben Gordon has been waived by the Charlotte Bobcats.
ESPN reports how Rod Higgins, the president of basketball operations for the Charlotte Bobcats felt the decision to let Gordon go was beneficial for both Gordon and the Bobcats. Higgins states, "with the recent acquisition of additional backcourt depth to our roster, we believe this is in the best interests of both parties."
Gordon will not be able to play for another team that makes the playoffs because he wasn't waived by March 1. Gordon joined the Bobcats in 2012, after he was traded alongside a first round pick by the Detroit Pistons for Corey Maggette. Gordon is due to make $13.2 million this season.
Sports Illustrated discloses how Gordon wasn't having much of an impact on the Bobcats and was averaging a career low in many statistical categories. Gordon, has played 10 seasons in the NBA and couldn't create a position for himself under Bobcats coach Steve Clifford's lineup. Also, the Bobcats made a trade to get Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour, which further diminished a spot for Gordon.
