Keith Richards writes children book ‘Gus and Me’

The legendary Rolling Stones guitarist is releasing a children’s book Gus & Me: The Story of My Grandad and My First Guitar about his grandfather and introduction to music.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the book reveals Richards’ relationship with his grandfather, a jazz musician, and offers a rare look at Richard’s childhood. Richards’ daughter Theodora Richards did the illustrations for the book, drawing ink-and-pen collages for it.

Little Brown publisher Megan Tinley stated, “Gus & Me invites readers to be in the room at the electrifying moment that Keith holds a guitar in his hands for the first time. We are excited to be bringing this vivid and moving story to children and families, and proud to be publishing the debut of talented artist Theodora.”

The New York Times noted Theodora, named after her grandfather whose given name was Theodore, is known mainly for her modeling career but also studied at New York Academy of Art and the School of Visual Arts.

Richards said in a statement, now a fifth time grandfather himself, “The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me.”
