Josh Duhamel produces animal adoption charity web series

As if being a Hollywood heartthrob wasn’t already what actor Josh Duhamel was known for, he will now be known for something even sweeter: producing a new web series about helping and adopting shelter puppies.

The famous actor is using his production company, Dakotakid Media, and pairing up with PetSmart Charities to create a documentary-style series that follows puppies who are saved from overcrowded shelters and transported to communities and people that will adopt and save them.

Mother Nature Network reported that the eight episode web-series will be called Rescue Waggin’: Tales from the Road and will feature other famous celebrity advocates for animal adoption, such as Kristen Bell and Bret Michaels.

In an interview with OK Magazine, Duhamel explained that he decided to pair up with PetSmart charities for a variety of reasons.

“We did an event a few years ago in New York promoting PetSmart Charities’ five millionth pet adoption. I was just starting my production company and I thought what a great idea it would be to help promote Rescue Waggin’ by showing it from the perspective of the dogs,” he said. “They go to these shelters that are so overrun that they can’t support the dogs, scoop them up and take them to parts of the country to shelters and humane societies where there are families who are looking for dogs like these.”

Duhamel’s biggest hope for this series will be to raise funds for the great cause and that homeless puppies will start to find good homes. The first episode is already up on the web at RescueWaggin.org, and two new episodes will be ready to view every Monday in March.
