Hip hop band De La Soul release ‘Smell the D.A.I.S.Y’ mixtape on BitTorrent

De La Soul has released a new mixtape, Smell the D.A.I.S.Y.

The band has shared the most recent project on BitTorrent. The track includes rhymes that were previously released including “Vocabulary Spills.” The track also features beats from the late production legend, J Dilla.

Group member Posdnuos told Rolling Stone, “Dilla was the Tupac of producers. He has so many unreleased things that no one has heard. His family knows how vital and important an ingredient his music was to our work."

Some of the proceeds from Smell the D.A.I.S.Y will go towards the J. Dilla Foundation. The Foundation funds music programs in inner-city schools. According to Hypebot, Bit Torrent said on their blog, "We’re collaborating with De La Soul to preserve their music’s legacy; to build the scalable, sustainable, media formats that will ensure its future.”

De La Soul is a hip hop band whose albums included De La Soul is Dead, Stakes Is High, and The Grind Date. Their popular single, “Me Myself and I,” climbed the charts and became one of their best known hits.
