The star of the upcoming film Divergent Shailene Woodley, sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss a variety of topics as well as revealing a tidbit about her love life.
During her discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, Woodley discussed that she had not expected to get involved with more than one film project.
While Woodley was also the star of ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Hollywood Reporter also describes how the role had its pros and cons for the actress. She received exposure and experience as an actress; however, she could find herself almost weekly being parodied on the E! Network’s television show The Soup due to the exaggerated style of the show.
“Having come off a TV show, I was kind of in a place where I was like, ‘I’m never signing a contract for more than one movie,’ because once you do sign a contract, legally, you’re liable,” Woodley said. “[Even if you don’t find something creatively stimulating anymore, you’ve still got to do it legally.”
While in the interview, she discusses other topics such as Dakota Fanning beating her for the role in the film I Am Sam at 9-years-old and how she managed to get the role in Descendants after making the “don’t call back list” after her first reading, there was one thing she would not discuss.
In talking about her fourth trip to Sundance with her two friends, Woodley talks about how she believes, “Sundance is reserved for cozy times.” She described that the event is more focused around “snuggling up in front of the fireplace and having a nice glass of wine with your buddies then seeing a movie.”
When the reporter began to question if she was romantically seeing one of those friends, she quickly dismissed it, saying, “No, those are my best friends.”
She doesn’t explain her love life any further than saying, “I fall in love with human beings based on who they are, not based on what they do or what sex they are.”
However, the reporter admitted to not being sure if Woodley meant in friendships or more intimate relationships.
