"Dallas" episode recap - "Trust Me"

We open on Sue Ellen secretly meeting with Bum. She asks him to follow John Ross. He asks why. "Emma Ryland. I spent 40 years being cheated on. I know the signs," she replies. Bum replies that she and John Ross have been getting along great since JR's death, but if John Ross finds she had him followed that might end. Sue Ellen says that she loves John Ross, "that it took most of JR's life for him to realize the pain he caused me. If JR were alive, he'd tell John Ross that the path he is on leads to nothing. But, JR isn't alive, so it's up to me to make sure that my son doesn't destroy his life." Bum then says,"I'll look into it" and leaves. Once he's gone, Sue Ellen takes out a flask and takes a swig.

A now free Harris comes home and goes directly to his safe. Then, Emma comes into the room. He accuses her of stealing his papers from the safe so she could put him away and take over his company. Emma denies the accusation and asks how he got out of prison. Harris tells her that the judge "tossed the case" and all charges against him have been dropped. He then tells her that he'd never allow the Ewings to use his ships, etc. He then threatens to put her "in a therapeutic setting so you don't hurt yourself. Just like I did with your grandma."

Emma then runs to John Ross to tell him that Harris is out of prison, that he "killed" their ship deal and is threatening to out her away. John Ross replies That he'd never let that happen, that he'll find a way to put Harris back in prison and then he kisses her. She wants more but he says that he has business to tend to." But, Emma won't take no for an answer and they have sex. Meanwhile, in a building across the street, Bum is taking pictures of their encounter.

John Ross meets with Bum about how to get Harris back in prison.

Bobby is looking at a map showing the shale on Southfork. He tells Ann that the seismic tests he had done in 1980 showed that the shale was within his surface rights but now it's in John Ross'. Bobby then tells Ann that he's going to have another set of seismic tests done to find out the truth. Ann then asks Bobby to come upstairs with because "if I watch Duck Dynasty alone I get the beards confused." But, then there's a knock at the door. It's Derek, the cop. He tells Ann and Bobby that Harris has been released from prison. Ann and Bobby correctly assume that he bought a judge to get the charges dropped. Bobby then calls his friend, Ellis, an attorney to see what he can do.

Bobby and Ann meet with Ellis, who tells them that no one is talking about how Harris got released. Bobby then tells Ellis that he's "going to take down everyone who was involved in this...and I mean everyone." Bobby then tells Ann that he's "going to call in a favor, from my U.S. Senator friend, Joe McAllister."

At Ewing Global, John Ross sees Christopher talking with Howard, who will conduct the new seismic tests. He then starts flirting with Candace, the secretary, to get her to spy on what Christopher is doing with Howard. Pamela sees him flirting and doesn't like it. Howard assures Christopher that the new tests will be his top priority. John Ross tries to high-five Howard as he leaves, but he looks scared of him and scurries away. John Ross and Christopher then argue briefly about drilling on Southfork. Then, Nicolas aka Joaquin arrives and congratulates them on finding the money to buy the arctic leases and how fortunate they were to find shale in Southfork. John Ross walks away without saying a word and Nicolas asks Christopher if "there's trouble in Ewing paradise?" Christopher tells him that family always have their disagreements "but band together against outsiders." Nicolas asks if he means him, but Christopher says he wants them to be friends and invites him to a BBQ at Southfork on Saturday. Nicolas gladly accepts the invitation.

At Nicolas' penthouse, Elena tells him that she's gone through the Ewings global server and found no evidence that they framed Cliff for JR's murder. She then adds that any evidence would probably be on Bobby's home computer, but now that she broke up with Christopher, she has no reason to be in the house. Nicolas suggests that she sneak a peek at his computer during Saturday's BBQ, which he's sure she'll be invited to since he was. Elena tells Nicolas that he can't go to Southfork because her mother will see him. Nicolas replies that it has to happen sometime. Elena then asks him what she's supposed to tell her mother when she sees him. Nicolas replies that "your mother is a servant for the people who caused your father's death and stole millions that were rightfully hers. Don't you think she deserves better?"

Howard is working late on the new seismic tests when John Ross appears. He tells Howard how important a guy he to Ewing Global, then drops a wad of cash on the table. He then tells Howard that he knows he'll do the right thing and have the new seismic tests show that the shale on Southfork is within his surface rights NOT Bobby's. Then, John Ross leaves and Howard looks torn as to what he should do.

Pamela is having some wine by the pool at Southfork when John Ross arrives. He asks her what she's still doing up. She reminds him that they were supposed to make a final decision on the centerpieces for the wedding. John Ross apologizes and says he got hung up with work and forgot. Then, Pamela mentions Candace and how he was "all over her." John Ross replies that he was only flirting with her to get her spy on Christopher about how he'll stop him from driling on Southfork. "My hand to G-d," John Ross tells Pamela, who replies, "If I ever find out that you've been stepping out on me, G-d's wrath will be the least of your worries." He replies by kissing her.

As Christopher is getting ready to go out for a ride, Helen appears. She starts yelling at him that drilling on Southfork will mean less land, less cattle and a lot of people will lose their jobs...including her. He tells her that he and Bobby are doing everything they can to stop the drilling, which is John Ross' idea. Helen then asks why he didn't say something sooner? Christopher replies, "Because you're cute when you're angry." She starts to leave , but before she does, he invites her to the BBQ.

Carmen is getting the food ready for the BBQ. Elena arrives and tells her mother that they need to talk. Elena tells her that Nicolas aka Joaquin, is coming to the BBQ, that he's at Ewing Global, that he's working for Cliff and the Ewings can't know that they know him. Carmen then asks Elena what she's gotten herself into? She thinks Elena is being pulled into Cliff's plan for revenge, but Elena tells Carmen that everything she's doing is "justified." Still, Carmen says that pretending not to.know Joaquin is a lie. She then adds that she won't be involved in anything that has Cliff involved because that means destroying the Ewings and she won't do it. Elena tries to reason with her, but Carmen says she has to get back to work.

Harris is in his office at home and hears a a thud. He takes a gun from a desk drawer and points it at the door. Then, much to his surprise, his mother, Judith [played by Judith Light] enters the room. She bets he's wondering how she got out of the facility he put her in. Then. Emma walks in and tells Harris that they're "one big happy family again." Judith then says what a "good girl" Emma is, but Harris tells her that she's being controlled by the Ewings and can't be trusted. Judith replies that now that she's back "I'll keep her under control." She then says she's going to put aside the fact that he pushed her down the stairs, had her sedated and locked in a rehab hospital. "You are no longer head of Ryland Transportation," she tells Harris, who replies that if they "don't get our trucks rolling soon, we're all going to be dead." She fires back that he should have consulted her before getting involved with the Mexican cartel. He says that he didn't think she would approve. She then tells him about a saying that his grandfather had, "Money and morality are like two cars on a one lane road, when they meet, morality is going to end up in the ditch." Harris then says he has to find a way to prove his loyalty to the cartel. Judith replies that she would love to meet them. Harris tells her that she doesn't know who she's dealing with. Judith replies,"I made my bones dealing with psychopaths while you were still playing with your Easy Bake oven. Set the meeting. It's time to renegotiate."

At the BBQ, Sue Ellen complements Ann on keeping everything together. Emma arrives, then Pamela sees John Ross flirting with some girl and isn't pleased. Sue Ellen sees that too then goes over to Bum and asks him if he found anything out from following John Ross. He replies that he hasn't and that he hasn't gone near Emma. She Ellen asks him if he's sure. He says that he is and she thanks him. He then asks her if she's "projecting the wrongs JR did to you onto your son?" Sue Ellen replies that it's possible. Then, Bum leaves. John Ross then sees Sue Ellen staring at him and he waves at her really big. She waves back, less animatedly. Pamela continues to watch John Ross flirt with the girl. Then, Helen arrives in a flowing white dress. Christopher promises her that the seismic tests will prove that the shale is within Bobby's surface rights and stop John Ross from drilling on Southfork. Helen then sees the band and asks Christopher if he "two-steps?" He replies that he hasn't for a long time. They then get out on the dance floor and have a good time. Meanwhile, Pamela sees John Ross now flirting with a different girl. She then sees Nicolas arrive and precedes to go over to him and ask him to dance. He gladly obliges. John Ross sees this and Pamela stares back at him while she and Nicolas dance very close to each other. John Ross clearly doesn't like what he sees.

Bobby visits Howard at the shale site. Howard tells him, "It's going to be close, Mr. Ewing." Howard then gives Bobby the wad of cash John Ross gave and confesses that John Ross tried to bribe him to swing the tests his way. He then adds that he didn't tell Bobby sooner because he was afraid he would fire him. Bobby replies that John Ross wouldn't be his nephew if he didn't try to bribe Howard. He tells Howard that he isn't fired and to make good use out of the money John Ross gave him.

Back at the BBQ, Christopher tells Nicolas that he's glad he came. Christopher then offers Nicolas twice what Cliff is paying him if he agrees to sell him part of Ewing Global so they can buy the arctic leases. Nicolas then tells Christopher that he has a capable team...especially Elena, who he says is smart and beautiful. Christopher replies that they are lucky to have her. He then changes the subject to how Nicolas and Cliff met. Nicolas says that Cliff wanted to be involved in dealings in Latin America. He then asks Christopher if Elena is dating anyone. Christopher replies that she isn't but that she just got out of a serious relationship. Nicolas correctly assumes that Christopher was the serious relationship and apologizes. Nicolas then gets a business call and excuses himself.

Ann complements Carmen's cooking then Nicolas comes in to say hello. He and Carmen lock eyes and she pretends not to know him. Ann then thanks Carmen then leaves. Once she's gone, Carmen and Nicolas hug. He then tells her that he knows that lying isn't easy for her, but asks her to trust him. Carmen replies that when they took him in as a boy "I saw both the light and the darkness fight for your soul. Both Drew and Elena are under your influence now. I trust that you will do the right thing."

Elena sneaks into Bobby's office during the BBQ and quickly copies his computer's hard drive. Once she's back outside, Christopher thanks her for coming. Then, Nicolas comes over and asks Elena, in front of Christopher, if she would show him Dallas' sights. He says she can try to convince him to sell off part of Ewing Global to help pay for the arctic leases while they sightsee. Elena then agrees. Once Nicolas walks away, Christopher begs Elena not to go out with him, but she says that it's the perfect opportunity to "soften him up" and then she goes off. Then, Helen approaches Christopher to tell him that she's leaving. She then grabs Christopher and kisses him passionately. He's shocked but admires her "directness." She then says that she thinks they'd have fun together and he agrees. But, then she says that she senses that he isn't ready for that yet, but when he is, she'"interested." Then, she leaves.

Christopher then joins John Ross and Bobby to hear the results of the new seismic tests Howard conducted. Howard then says the shale is within John Ross' surface rights. Howard apologizes to Bobby, who thanks him for doing his job. Howard leaves then Christopher tells them that they don't have to drill on Southfork because he found something on Nicolas. He says he found a $100 million discrepancy in one of Nicolas and Cliff's deals, which makes him thinks it was a "phantom deal," that Nicolas and Cliff probably don't even know each other and there must be some other reason Nicolas is doing this for Cliff. Bobby asks if Christopher thinks that Cliff has something on Nicolas. Yet, John Ross insists that their deadline to buy the arctic leases is approaching so he's going to drill on Southfork to get the money they need to buy them. John Ross leaves and then Bobby tells Christopher to go to Mexico to find more on Nicolas, meanwhile, he will make some calls
to try to slow John Ross' plans.

Nicolas goes back to his penthouse and Elena tells him that she found an email on Bobby's home computer's hard drive to Carlos del Sol about Rhonda Simmons, the woman who testified that Cliff was in the bar the night JR was killed. "That's gotta mean something," Elena tells Nicolas.

John Ross meets Bum and asks him what he's found on Harris to put him back in prison. Bum replies that he hasn't found anything, but then shows John Ross the pictures he took of his tryst with Emma. John Ross then asks Bum why he's following him. Bum lies and says that JR asked him to look out for him. Bum then tells John Ross that JR cheating on Sue Ellen was a sin that he figured out too late, "grow from your father's greatness...not his weakness," Bum tells John Ross.

Harris and Judith meet with the cartel. Judith tells the head of the cartel, Luis, that he'll be dealing with her since she's now the head of Ryland Transport. He replies that they've earned a level of trust with Harris after years of working together and that trust doesn't extend to her. Judith agrees that trust is important she then opens her coat and puts the Luis' hands on her breasts. She then says that due to Harris' legal problems, the border patrol will be watching all Ryland trucks so now they'll be owned by a shell company that will transporting drilling fluid and waste water and the trucks will take private roads with no border patrol in sight. Luis agrees then Judith wants to sample the cocaine. Judith snorts some, Harris is embarrassed and she says she approves of "the product." Luis then threatens Judith's family if another supply interruption occurs.

Once home, we see that Harris was wearing wire and taped the entire meeting. He then gets a call that there's a problem.

Bobby gets a call from Joe McAlister, his Senator friend. Bobby and Ann go to meet him, but are ambushed on the way. They're told to stop looking into why Harris was released. Bobby replies, "Or?" Then, Harris appears and Bobby and Ann are told that Harris isn't working for the drug cartel...he's working for the CIA!! Harris then tells Ann and Bobby that they're asking questions about the nature of his release from prison could blow his cover. He then adds that the cartel has pictures of Ann and Emma and they could kill them if his cover is blown.
