Actors Reese Witherspoon and William Shatner are celebrating their birthdays today.

Reese Witherspoon, 38

Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon turns 38 today. She made her film debut in The Man in the Moon in 1991. Witherspoon earned her first Golden Globe nomination for her role in Election. Her breakout role was as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde (2001). She then starred in Sweet Home Alabama in 2002, which became her most commercially successful film. She reprised her role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, & Blonde.

Witherspoon gained critical praise and worldwide success for her role as June Carter Cash in Walk the Line. Her role earned her an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG award for Best Actress. Other film credits include Pleasantville, Cruel Intentions, Penelope, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Water for Elephants.

In 2010, Witherspoon received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She has 2 children with her first husband, Ryan Phillippe. She is currently married to talent agent Tim Toth, and have one son together.

William Shatner, 83

Actor, musician, singer, author, director, spokesperson, and comedian William Shatner turns 83 today. Shatner started his career in Shakespearean theater. His first feature film was in MGM's The Brothers Karamazov in 1958. He went on to star in Alfred Hitchcock Presents under the episodes "The Glass Eye" and "Mother, may I go out to swim?" He also starred in "Nick of Time" and "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" in The Twilight Zone.

Shatner's breakout role was as Captain T. Kirk in NBC's Star Trek from 1966-69. After its cancellation, Shatner fell upon hard times, taking whatever roles he could get; television appearances, game shows, commercials. He reprised his role as Captain Kirk in the seven film adaptations of Star Trek.

Shatner has since appeard in films including Miss Congeniality, Osmosis Jones, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Over the Hedge, and The Wild. He has also appeared on television series including Boston Legal, Psych, Rookie Blue, and Hot in Cleveland.

Shatner recorded a few spoken word albums, and has written several Star Trek novels, as well as an autobiography. Shatner has been known as the Priceline Negotiator from 1997-present. He has three children from his first marriage. He is currently married to Elizabeth Anderson Martin.
