Former prison guard from Metropolitan Detention Center located in Brooklyn is behind bars for sexually abusing an inmate.
New York Daily News reports that sixty-year-old Theodore Raines, a counselor and guard, will be serving 16 months in prison for partaking in a sexual relation with a female inmate.
The inmate is claiming that Raines raped her, whereas he says that it was consensual. An investigation was prompted by the allegations and Raines DNA was found on the inmate’s underwear. As a result Raines plead guilty in exchange for a lesser charge. Another female inmate came forward an accused Raines of sexually assaulting her. The court ordered Raines to pay for the victims counseling.
This type of story is not uncommon as a former Connecticut prison guard will be behind bars as well for sexually abusing a female inmate.
The Associated Press reports that forty-six-year-old Steven Wolff had numerous sexual relations with the female inmate in the broiler area of the federal prison in Danbury. The relationship started in 2011 and Wolff would give illegal imports such as hair dye to the inmates that were the lookout.
