Blazing fire rips through New Jersey motel killing four people and injuring eight

A fire that ripped through Mariners Cove Motor Inn in New Jersey, killing four, and seriously injuring eight around 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

James Giannuzzi, who was staying in the hotel because his home was flooded from Super storm Sandy, said that he woke up to the sound of “some hero knocking on all the doors,” according to Reuters.

If it wasn’t for the firefights getting there within a half hour of the fire being reported more lives would have been lost.

Point Pleasant Fire Chief A.J. Fox said that if it wasn’t for one woman submerging herself in a bathtub in a second story room until fire fighters got there, she would have died. He said, “Fire was just blowing right out the windows. I think she helped save her own life,” according to the New York Post.

The Mariners Cove Motor Inn is located blocks from the beach and was a popular spot for vacationers, however recently it has been housing people who lost their homes in Super storm Sandy.
