Anquan Boldin re-signs with 49ers

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin announced on Monday that he is staying with the San Francisco 49ers.

Boldin and the 49ers agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract. The deal has $9 million guaranteed, according to ESPN. Boldin made the announcement that he’s staying with the 49ers via Twitter. ''I wanted to be the first to tell you that I'm returning to San Francisco. Looking forward to joining my teammates, coaching staff and fans to bring back another championship to the Bay Area. Let's go after our Quest For Six,” he said in his tweet.

The 49ers got Boldin in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens last March for a sixth-round pick. While with the Ravens he helped them win a Super Bowl. He would have become a free agent next week if this deal hadn’t been made. Last year Boldin led the 49ers with 85 catches for 1,179 yards and seven touchdowns, according to the Associated Press. That performance won Boldin the Bill Walsh Award, which is given to the team’s MVP.

''We are pleased that Anquan has chosen to continue his career as a 49er,'' 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. ''He is a consummate professional whose love and respect for the game provide a tremendous example for all players. Anquan has been a very productive player throughout his career and we look forward to his future contributions to our team and community.''

Boldin, a three-time Pro Bowler, has 857 receptions for 11,334 yards and 65 touchdowns in his career. He ranks 20th in receptions and 29th in yards receiving. Boldin staying with the 49ers is good for the team as he is quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s number one target.
