‘The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: A Celebration of Mac & His Music’ will be performed in New Orleans

Gregg Allman, Mavis Staples, and Allen Toussaint will be performing in a tribute concert to Dr. John.

According to the Associated Press, the show, "The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: A Celebration of Mac & His Music," is scheduled for May 3 at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.

Dr. John is an American singer/ songwriter who is known for his unique blend of the blues, boogie woogie, and jazz. He is known for a stage show featuring Mardi Gras themes and voodoo ceremonies. He sent wishes to New Orleans yesterday for Mardi Gras, according to the The Huffington Post.

Their concert will happen during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Additional performers will include the Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member are Widespread Panic, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Bingham, The Blind Boys of Alabama and fellow Louisiana musicians like Cyril Neville, Zigaboo Modeliste, and Chief Monk Boudreaux.

Performances will be recorded, and concerts will be available for viewing at a later date. Fans can begin purchasing tickets on Monday.
