WWE looking for new homes for staple shows

WWE’s high-rated shows, Raw and Smackdown are now in search of a new home network after their contract with NBCUniversal ends.

Smackdown and Raw air on Syfy and USA, respectively. As their contract with NBCU ends, they must find a new home to call home. In a statement for The Wrap, WWE said, “While we were unable to reach an agreement with NBCU during this period, we have certainly appreciated our long and productive partnership.”

Though the contract has ended, both shows might not be moving too soon, though. If another network puts in an offer to WWE, NBCU has the option to match the amount in order to keep the programs as part of their lineup.

The biggest event of the year for WWE, Wrestlemania will take place on April 6 on pay-per-view.

According to Pro Wrestling Torch, Raw brings in the most viewers at about five million a week while Smackdown brings in roughly three million viewers.

So far, no offers have been made on the shows, but they could possibly increase viewership for those networks that are struggling.
