The prominent sexuality and drug references in Miley Cyrus' current tour have gotten the attention of every person who has some sort of media access. Whether good or bad, the BANGERZ Tour has become the most talked about tour in a long time.
Miley began her current tour on Valentine's Day in Vancouver, Canada. According to the Huffington Post who attened the concert, it was everything you'd expect of Miley, yet it was completley shocking. It was immediately met with harsh criticism for its over-sexualized content and Miley's shocking behavior. She pulled out all the stops for the tour, including a leotard decorated with marijuana leaves, imitating oral sex on a dancer with a Bill Clinton mask, and of course plenty of pelvic thrusts.
As soon as the show ended, the internet was flooded with harsh comments on the enviroment Miley created for her tour. Most of the criticism came from parents of younger audience members who were in attendance. We reported that people were even trying to get the whole tour canceled in spite of Miley's behavior on stage.
As an avid Miley Cyrus fan myself, I've been following her career since her Hannah Montana days. Over the span of her music, I've seen a growth that has been oh so promiment in Miley. She herself has done nothing to hide her growing sexuality.
In 2013 when she announced that she had signed to a new record label, I knew we were going to see changes in her music. As if that wasn't enough of a clue, her daring new short haircut brought in a new side of Miley.
With the release of her single, "We Can't Stop," in June of 2013, fans saw a grown new Miley. Her Disney days were long gone, so I don't see why people continue to compare her to her earlier days.
Being that this is Miley's own tour, people should have expected nothing short of mild nudity and sexual behavior. Parents of young Miley fans must be living under a rock to expect the 21-year-old entertainer to sing "Best of Both Worlds." Miley has come into her own and is going at full speed ahead.
Considering that this is 2014, parents are being just a little too abbrasive with the BANGERZ Tour. The fact of the matter is that it is a show. It is meant to entertain. It is meant to catch attention. And that is exactly what it has done.
The BANGERZ Tour will hit 58 cities total in North America before it concludes on April 24 in Uniondale, NY.
