Tennessee parents charged with lethal amount of soda for 5-year-old

Punishments are supposed to teach you a lesson, but the lesson cannot be learned if you die from it.

According to FOX News and the Associated Press, the father and stepmother of 5-year-old Alexa Linboom are in the Hawkins County Jail on a $500,000 bond each because they forced her to drink a 2-liter lethal combination of soda and water as punishment that led to her death.

Parenting involves caring for the child and teaching him or her life lessons, manners and values. Sometimes proving a point goes overboard and that good intention gets lost and turns south.

NBC News reports, Mary Lavonne Vaughn, 58, and Randall Lee Vaughn, 41, were charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and two counts of aggravated child neglect each by a Hawkins County jury and scheduled for a court appearance on Friday.

This couple will begin their court processes starting Friday with high bonds and multiple charges. This highlights a lesson in parenting and how quickly it can come into question.
