Philip Seymour Hoffman's death will not affect 'The Hunger Games'

Philip Seymour Hoffman’s untimely death will not affect the shooting of the final movie of The Hunger Games franchise. According to TMZ, Hoffman was found dead on Sunday in his New York City apartment. 50 bags of heroin were found in the apartment as well.

Hoffman’s character in The Hunger Games movies was introduced in the most recent release, Catching Fire. According to The movie made over $161 million in it’s opening weekend. Plutarch Heavensbee, played by Hoffman in the movie, was the Head Gamemaker in this film after previous headmaker, Seneca Crane, was killed in the first installment of the movies. The Gamemaker is responsible for creating the arena and traps that tributes face when they enter The Hunger Games.

Heavensbee tries to warn Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, of the dangers and troubles scattered throughout the arena, but has to be as subtle as possible as to not give away too many specifics. Katniss does not realize that he’s trying to help her until she is face to face with all the tricks found in the Games.

Hoffman was able to reprise his role for Mocking Jay: Part 1. According to IGN, Hoffman only had one more week of shooting to go on Part 2 of the movie.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is set to be released on November 21, 2014.
