Pharrell Williams will perform at the Academy Awards

Producers of the 86th Annual Academy Awards said on Tuesday that the producer-performer will sing his nominated song, Happy.

Williams is nominated for his song Happy from the movie, Despicable Me 2. According to Variety, Universal Studios mounted a major Oscar campaign for Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me 2. Despicable Me 2 is an animated film about Gru, an ex-supervillain who is recruited by the Anti-Villain League.

Williams, now 40 years old, had a great year with his recent hits Get Lucky, according to the Associated Press. In 2014, he won Grammys for Producer of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance with Daft Punk. He was nominated as a producer for Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. Williams also had success with his previous album, In My Mind.

Williams recently made a splash not only with his music, but with a special wardrobe item. His hat, kept people talking for days after the Grammy Awards.

The 86th Annual Academy Awards will be presented March 2 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.
