NBC’s ‘Heroes’ returns as miniseries

Saturday, Feb. 22, NBC announced that the network is bringing the television series Heroes back as a miniseries.

According to TV Guide the miniseries, which will be entitled Heroes: Reborn, will contain 13 episodes in a stand-alone story arc.

Tim Kring, the series’ creator, is said to return to assist in the making of the miniseries. However, all the details of the series including casting are being kept secret.

“Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy,” President Jennifer Salke said in a statement according to TV Guide.

Deadline reported that the miniseries will be centered around a group of new characters, however Salke shared that there may be some surprises.

“We won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in,” Salke said in a statement according to Deadline. Hayden Penettiere, Milo Ventimiglia, Zachary Quinto, Ali Larter and Masi Oka are some of the characters that in the original Heroes cast.

Before the 2015 miniseries launched, characters and storylines from Heroes: Reborn will be shown to the audience in a digital series.

According to Deadline, Heroes was one of the most popular titles for Universal TV. The series earned the title of the network’s biggest international and DVD seller. The superhuman based show also quickly earned a cult following with fans that are had been trying to bring the show back since its 2010 cancellation.

“The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” Salked said. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment.”
