A student at White Brook Middle School had their tongue stuck to a metal pole on Wed. just before 8 a.m. in Easthampton, Mass.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette writes, Fire Capt. Kevin Benson said, “We asked for a pitcher of warm water, someone got it, and then we poured it onto the pole where his tongue was for 10 to 15 seconds” until the tongue was unthawed and released from the pole. Benson also noted that the student was not injured but embarrassed.
The boy reportedly was not licking the pole because of a dare, said Benson, reports The Gazette.
The call for help to the Fire Department came just after 8 a.m.
The age of the student has not been revealed.
According to the PIX11, the teachers surrounded the boy while students were arriving on school buses to keep the matter somewhat private.
The EMTs examined the boy’s tongue, contacted his mother to inform her and then sent him to class.
