Martin Scorsese talks making 'Wolf of Wall Street' with Conan O'Brien (Video)

Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street is nominated for a stellar five Oscars this year. This is Scorsese’s eighth best director nomination.

Scorsese has shared stories from set, including hiring an expert to instruct the actors about behavior. According to The Independent, the film director recalled, "Yes, I can’t say who the expert is but I could put a few words in there myself."

The Wolf of Wall Street has held over 50 nominations, including nods from the AFI Awards, BAFTA Awards, Art Directors Guild, and the Golden Globes, among others.

Scorsese has only won one Academy Award for Best Director for The Departed. The film has enjoyed success already, having won 17 awards before vying for the Oscar on March 2. This year, the movie is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Achievement in Directing. Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay, and Best Motion Picture of the Year.

Other directors competing with Martin Scorsese for the nod in Directing include David O. Russell for American Hustle, Alfonso Cuaron for Gravity, Alexander Payne for Nebraska, Steve McQueen for 12 Years a Slave. Intense competition, but nothing Scorsese, 71, hasn’t seen before.
