Lily Allen endorses Cornetto ice cream, gets slammed by Katie Hopkins about weight gain

Last July, the 28-year-old singer tweeted about Cornetto ice cream in which she said: “Is it true there’s only 190 calories in a Cornetto? #cornettodiet.”

Cornetto must have appreciated the Twitter shout out, as it prompted the company to ask Lily to participate in their advertising. According to Belfast Telegraph, Lily will be the first celebrity endorse Cornetto and will be receiving six figures to do so.

“Lily only Tweeted about the ice cream for a bit of fun- she never anticipated in would into a huge endorsement deal,” a source told The Sun.

Lily also found herself attacked by Katie Hopkins, former Apprentice star, during an interview with Heat.

“I’m not one for Lily Allen really,” Hopkins said. “I quite liked her when she was singing and kind of interesting and then went off to tell us what it was like being a mother, and that she was removing herself from the spotlight to be a mother. And that I think, largely involved gaining two stone and looking pretty hideous.

Lily Allen didn’t quite appreciate the public shout out and her weight gain, but immediately took to Twitter to address the situation.

“Yes, after tragically losing a child so late into my pregnancy I may have gained a few pounds, I am one of many that find comfort in food.” Lily posted.

“The two pregnancies that followed were terrifying because of what had happened before and I was pretty much on bed rest for 20 months.

“I wasn’t exercising because I didn’t want to take any risks, and funnily enough, the survival of my children felt more important than being thin.”

Since then, Lily has deleted those tweets.
