Kerry Kennedy testifies for DUI charge

On Wednesday daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy and Bedford resident Kerry Kennedy stood before the jury to deliver her testimony in her drugged driving trial.
ABC News reports that Kennedy immediately brought up her famous father just after taking the stand, relying on her legendary lineage as a part of her defense strategy. Kennedy is accused of driving under the influence of Ambien during a July 2013 accident. She has denied knowingly taking the medication, mistaking it for her thyroid medicine Synthoid.
When asked if she realized her impairment that morning by her attorney Gerald Lefcourt, she responded “No. If I realized I was impaired I would have pulled over.”
According to Daily Voice, Assistant District Attorney Doreen Lloyd focused on questions regarding her sleeping pill use over the past four years, trying to find any deviance from the doctor’s recommendations or irregularities in their usage. Lloyd was able to prove slight recklessness in her reading of the bottle, asking "Would you agree me that that was careless of you?" To which she answered, "I would.”
The trial will resume on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. A forensic pharmacologist is likely to be called as a final witness.
