Judi Dench is a looking forward to the Oscars this year. She has a stellar six nominations to her name.
According to the Daily Mail, Dench said, “This is just the loveliest news. I'm so happy for everybody involved, and so proud to have been part of the wonderful experience that Philomena has been.”
Other than the Best Actress nod, Philomena, has Oscar nominations this year for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score. In Philomena/, Dench plays Philomena Lee, an elderly Irish woman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She is a journalist who is searching for her son. The movie was directed by Stephen Frears.
This isn’t the first time Dench has been nominated for an Academy Award. She won for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in Shakespeare in Love. She was nominated for Best Actress in A Leading Role for Iris. She was also nominated for Mrs Brown, Mrs Henderson Presents, Notes On A Scandal and Chocolat.
The 79 year old British actress is also known for her work in The World is Not Enough, Pride and Prejudice, and J. Edgar. Stephen Frears also directed High Fidelity, Mary Reilly, and The Queen.
