Rapper Ice-T and singer The Weeknd are celebrating their birthdays today.

Ice-T, 56

Rapper and actor Ice-T turns 56 today. Born Tracy Marrow, Ice-T started his music career after teaming up with a few friends in high school. After he graduated he joined the United States Army for four years. In 1987, Ice-T signed as a rapper to Sire Records, and released his debut album Rhyme Days, which is the first Hip-Hop album to have an explicit content sticker. Ice-T created Rhyme Syndicate Records, and co-founded the heavy metal group Body Count. He has a total of eight studio albums.

Ice-T has appeared in films including New Jack City, Surviving the Game, and Gangland. He married model Nicole "Coco Marie" Austin in September 2001. Ice-T currently plays Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

The Weeknd, 24

Canadian singer and record producer The Weeknd turns 24 today. Born Abel Tesfaye, The Weeknd chose his name after dropping out of high school at age 17. He gained attention after releasing a few songs on Youtube. Rapper Drake, who has collaborated with The Weeknd on numerous occasions, helped him gain international attention. In September 2012, he signed with Republic Records, and joined it with his own label XO. His first collaboration album, Trilogy, which featured songs from his previous mix tapes, earned him great attention and many accolades.

The Weeknd released his debut album, Kiss Land in May 2013. The album hit No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart. He also appears on the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack.
