Celebrity Birthdays, Feb. 17: Ed Sheeran and Billie Joel Armstrong

Songwriter and singer Ed Sheeran, and Guitarist Billie Joel Armstrong are celebrating their birthday today, February 17.

Ed Sheeran, 23

Singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran, 23, was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire in 1991, but moved to Framlingham, England later as a child.

In 2005, Sheeran began recording and released an independent album called “The Orange Room.” From 2008-2009, the singer released other EP’s with various artists, and he also opened for Nizlopi, and went on tour with Just Jack and rapper Example. 2010 was also a year for EP’s because Sheeran released two more called Ed Sheeran: Live at the Bedford and Songs I Wrote With Amy and Loose Change.

In 2010, Sheeran bought a plane ticket and moved to Los Angeles where he played open mic nights at the Foxxhole, where Jamie Foxx spotted him. Foxx was so enrapture that he let Sheeran use his studio.
Fast forward to 2012, Sheeran contributed and went on tour with Taylor swift, co-writing “Everything Has Changed” and he also contributed to the band One Direction’s new album with two songs called “Over Again” and “Little Things.”

The artist will releas a second album sometime this year.

Billie Joel Armstrong,42

Guitarist, lead singer and co-creator of Green Day, Billie Joel Armstrong, was born in Oakland California in 1972, and met co-creator of Green Day, Mike Dint, in elementary school at the age of ten.

Armstrong began his music career at the age of 5, when a teacher encouraged him to record a track called “Look for Love” at a local music label. Then at ten, the singer met Mike Dint, co-creator of Green Day, at the age of ten and became best friends with him when they found out each other’s love for music.

Dint and Armstrong first named the band Sweet Children but later changed it to Green Day in 1989. Their first time performing was in Davis, which is a college town near San Francisco.

In 2004, after a long process of finding themselves, the band released an album called American Idio, which features songs like American Idiot, and Wake Me up When September Ends, an ode to his father who died of esophageal cancer. This album became a hot on Broadway in 2009.

In 1990, Armstrong met his wife, Adrienne Nesser, at one on his performances. The day of their wedding, the couple found out that she was pregnant. A baby boy named Joseph Marciano Armstrong was born.
In 2008, Armstrong won “Sexiest Man Alive” and in 2010, he won “Top Front man of All Times.”
