Brett Easton Ellis, Rob Zombie collaborate on show about Charles Manson murders

The brilliant brains behind The Devil’s Rejects and American Psycho have come together to create a project all about the Manson Family. Both Rob Zombie and Brett Easton are working with one another on a Fox “event series” on the brutal murders.

Rob Zombie and Brett Easton would be executive producers with Zombie directing and Ellis writing, as reported in Empire Online. The television show will take us back in time to some of the most appalling wrongdoings and the people and events that led up to it.

"I have been obsessed with this insane story since I was a kid, so obviously I jumped at the chance to be involved in this incredible project," Zombie said, according to Rolling Stone.

Manson and his family were inspired by The Beatles lyrics from the White Album, specifically "Helter Skelter,' which resulted in the gruesome mass murders of numerous people in Los Angeles.

Zombie recalls being fascinated with the murders’ news coverage as a kid and Ellis has a reputation for appreciating the darker side of things, making the pair perfect for this project.

"I've always been pretty truthful with myself, as much as I can be under the circumstances," Manson told Rolling Stone last year. "But I'll never tell on nobody, not even me, man, so that's why I ain't never told nobody what really happened back then. I can't tell you right now.”

The series is very early in the planning stages but it will see help from Alcon Television and Madhouse Entertainment.
