Bette Midler will perform at this year’s Oscars

It was announced on Wednesday that Bette Midler will be performing in the 86th Annual Academy Awards.

According to Deadline, Zadan and Meron said, “We are thrilled to have Bette perform on the Oscars for the very first time. We believe she will make our Oscar telecast an especially moving evening.”

Midler is a singer and actress who holds two Oscar nominations for her work in The Rose and For the Boys. She has won three Golden Globes, including one for her performance of Gypsy. She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series Comedy or Musical for Bette in 2000. She has sold over 30 million albums, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her pop vocal albums have been popular, earning her Grammy nominations and several wins, including one for “Wind Beneath My Wings.”

This is the singer’s first performance at the Oscars. The Oscars will air on ABC on March 2. Ellen DeGeneres will be hosting. The Oscars will be televised in over 225 countries and territories worldwide.
