Babyface and long time girlfriend Nicole Patenburg are engaged

Singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, 54, recently announced that him and longtime girlfriend, Nicole “Nikki” Patenburg, 40, are engaged. The couple has been dating since 2007.

Babyface’s rep confirmed to Us Weekly that the couple is definitely engaged after seven years of dating. Patenburg was his former back-up dancer. The couple has a daughter, Peyton, together who was born in September 2008. Babyface was previously married to businesswoman Tracey Edmonds for 13 years. The two had two boys, Brandon and Dylan, but divorced in 2005.

Toni Braxton and Babyface have recently begun making music together again. The two have just released a duet album, Love, Marriage & Divorce, on Tuesday February 4. BET.com decided to get the two together for a candid conversation. During this conversation, a lot was revealed about both of their love lives. Babyface made the most shocking announcement of all when he revealed that he was engaged to Patenburg.

Braxton asked, “Would you ever consider getting married again?” Babyface shockingly replied, “I’ve already considered it. I’m engaged, so yes.” Braxton was completely surprised. “You’re engaged?! I think your fans are going to be a little disappointed, but equally happy for you,” she said.

Braxton also asked what he’s learned from his past marriage and relationships that help him in his current one, to which Babyface answered, “The main thing is being honest with yourself and being honest with your feelings. When we’re not honest with ourselves, we just accept situations, don’t talk about them, and as you said, ignore the elephant in the room.” He then went on to explain that your problems are there because you put them there, so you need to recognize that you have to deal with them.

The rest of the conversation between the two R&B stars can be read on BET.com. Hopefully wedding details for the happy couple will be revealed soon!
