Australian hard rock band AC/DC will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a special tour, and they are also on their way into the recording studio for a new album.
In a recent radio interview with Florida’s Gater 98.7 lead singer Brian Johnson stated they will be headed into the studio in May in Vancouver, Canada.
Rolling Stone noted bassist Cliff Williams had hinted at brothers Malcolm and Angus Young were writing but didn’t give any actual time table. This would be their first new studio album since 2008’s Black Ice.
Johnson also stated to the Florida radio station that they will be planning shows for the upcoming anniversary, saying, “our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them.”
The rockers from Down Under got their start in 1973 with the Young brothers, Malcolm and Angus, who remain the only original members. Brian Johnson has been singing with the band since 1980’s classic album Back In Black, one of the most influential albums in all of rock n’ roll, after original singer Bon Scott passed away of alcohol abuse.
