Academy of Country Music presents ‘An All-Star Salute to the Troops’

Country music’s biggest stars will appear in a show to honor the men and women of the armed forces.

The show is called ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops. The television special will feature Merle Haggard, George Strait, and Carrie Underwood. Other early performers announced include Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry and Florida Georgia Line.

Each year, the Academy of Country Music creates a special on the day after its awards show. This year, the ACM awards are April 6 in Las Vegas. They will be hosted by Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan.

According to the ACM Awards website, Bob Romeo, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, said “We are so thankful for the men and women in our armed forces and proud to present this fantastic night of performances in their honor. The special will be a remarkable moment in Academy history and continues the ‘ACM Presents’ TV specials that have been so successful over the years.”

According to the Associated Press, proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the academy's charitable foundation, ACM Lifting Lives.

The two-hour special will air on May 20 on CBS.
