Two people were killed in Caracas, Venezuela during the largest protest against President Maduro’s government since his election a year ago.
According to Reuters, "We have two Venezuelans killed for raising their voices," said Maria Corina Machado, leader of the opposition.
The peaceful anti-government protesters in a crowd larger than 100 people were attacked.
NEWSOK writes, one victim was Bassil Da Costa,24, a marketing student was shot in the head. The other victim was the leader of a pro-government 23rd January group that is supportive of Venezuela’s socialist administration.
Reuters also reports, 23 injured, 25 arrested, four police vehicles burnt and government offices vandalized during the violence of the day, officials say.
Military used tear gas on hundreds of demonstrators who set tires on fire and also blockaded the main road of the Chacao district.
The president blamed the violence on groups that want his position in office taken. He also claims to have security in big cities with instructions to stabilize confrontations, notes NEWSOK.
