‘Glee’ producer Brad Falchuk gave some insights at a celebration of Glee’s 100th episode of the final season, the reworked ending, and missing Cory Monteith.
"We know what next year is, and I haven't been that excited about something in a long time on Glee about what we have planned. It's going to be great," Falchuk said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, regarding how the show will end. Originally Lea Michele’s Rachel was to come back to Lima, a Broadway star, back to Monteith’s Finn, who became a teacher, much like the current head of the glee club, Mr. Shue.
Falchuk also states in the interview that part of the 100th episode was having the original cast members reflect on what being in McKinley High’s New Directions meant, and singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” without Monteith. “It's emotional. It'd odd doing this song without Cory,” Falchuk stated. “You notice it. I notice it. There is a feeling when you hear that song and see all those people singing it that you really get a sense of what's come before it.”
E! Online also got some news from stars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer at the same event. Michele revealed that she is thrilled that so many of her younger WMHS classmates will be joining Rachel and Kurt in the Big Apple. "It's New York now, we switched locations and high school is done for the rest of the season. So it's me and Chris and Darren (Criss) and Chord [Overstreet] and Kevin [McHale] in New York and it's so awesome," she said.
As for now, the Lima story set and current class at McKinley, including Melissa Benoist (Marley), Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Becca Tobin (Kitty) will take a backseat.
