Chances are better that your team is not in the Super Bowl, so why spend more than half your day to watch the game? The commercials are great, but sometimes only good, or maybe you’re rooting against the team that defeated yours in the Championship game (Go Broncos!). There are many executives, think tanks, and marketing and advertising people racking their brains on how to get, you, the football fan whose team is not even playing, to watch the game. My I present to you…the halftime show.
To the core audience, the 18-49 year old, music is almost always present, and the more popular and current day, the better the chance to draw in that audience. Bruno Mars had a giant year, with a hugely successful album in Unorthodox Jukebox and monstrously successful tour, it seemed like a no-brainer. But then the executive got greedy from all the hype and threw in Red Hot Chili Peppers, who, of course, very successful, large fan base, can draw an audience, but the mix of the two, unless they do a perfectly arranged version of Stevie’s “Higher Ground”, doesn’t really make sense. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, so like it or not, here are our Top 10 Super Bowl halftime shows.
